Fast Track to Hell

La Bona of DivineTalk left the following comment on my old blog:

Keep bitching … its interesting, I think.

BTW, do you think Bible = The Complete Whole Truth?

Cheers.

I’ve replied to him and given him my new blog address and promised a reply here. Mind you, I don’t believe he’ll like a damn thing I have to say, but he does have a very interesting blog.

No, I don’t believe that the Bible is the complete, whole or even partial truth. My personal opinion is that the Bible isn’t worth the (very cheap) paper it’s printed on.

Yes, dear readers, I really AM a Godless heathen.

I believe that the Bible is nothing more than the first piece of serialized fiction ever dreamed up. It was written at a time where mankind were asking questions of the natural world that science had not advanced far enough to answer. Science has proven, beyond a doubt, that the Earth was created the same way that every other planet/star was created: by a very BIG BANG. Yes, there are still questions about the natural world that go unanswered, but I believe that it’s only because science hasn’t advanced far enough.

Having said all of that, I do appreciate the whole idea of a ‘higher power’. As a human being, I’m susceptible to the same emotional need for answers to everything that everyone else is. If you find those answers in God, more power to you. Whatever gets you through the night. I’m not a rabid atheist, nor would I mock anyone who believes in God…I’m just suspending belief until I see actual evidence. I do try to live within the 10 Commandments, but I don’t believe they are ‘God’s Word’…I believe they are simply common sense rules that all societies need to follow in order to flourish and survive.
