I thought it might be a nice gesture for Rob’s family and friends who may not have read Gut Rumbles lo these many years to have a handy synopsis of everything he has written. Therefore, I proclaim the grand opening of The Carnival of the Blogfaddah. For those unfamiliar with blog carnivals, here’s how it works:
1. Go through the Gut Rumbles archives and find your favorite post. It could be a post that spoke to you on some level, or changed the way you think about something, or made you squirt beer outta your nose. Anything will do so long as it means something to YOU.
2. Make a post on your own blog with a link to the Gut Rumbles post.
3. Send me the link (email address is theaterofthesoul (at) gmail dot com) and I’ll include it here.
Rob was a big fan of blog carnivals when he first got started blogging and encouraged many new bloggers to submit their writings to them because they’re an excellent way to gain readers. Rob was always willing to give advice and guidance to new bloggers and I hope in some small way to continue that spirit here. Anyone is welcome to participate.
For the moment, I’m only planning to do this once because there’s SO many carnivals out there now. But if there’s a good response, I may turn it into a weekly thing in his memory. I can think of no better way to honor Rob at the moment and I thank Bane and LL for the idea and Key for inspiring the name.
*Update 12:45PM: I’ve recieved a few questions that I’ll answer here.
First, there is no ‘deadline’. I know many of you are going to be attending the memorial and are busy making arrangements for travel. There is no rush.
Second, I’m aware that some of the archives are missing and/or screwed up. It’s my hope that at some point we can get them all under one roof, but for now, most everything can be found here:
Monsterman archives on Blogspot . You will find that some were imported to Gut Rumbles when he got the domain and host, but most were not.
A list of archives Rob made after the Big Blog Fuck Up of 2004.
If you’re looking for a specific post, the Gut Rumbles search page might be your friend but it doesn’t search the first set of archives pre-2004.
Third, I’ll post links that you’ve sent me in the evenings, after my rugrats go to bed.
Last, this isn’t a popularity contest. Notice the BIG BOLD ‘Anyone’ up top
Update 7:40PM: Linda M. also points out that Rob’s archives can also be found through that wonderful little invention called the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. Thanks, Linda!
Update 10:20PM: Due to the expected server load at Gut Rumbles tomorrow afternoon during the online memorial, it is quite possible that the archives turned off for a short time. If this happens, feel free to use Google. The word “site” followed by a colon enables you to restrict your search to a specific site. To do this, use the site:gutrumbles.com syntax in the Google search box. For example, to find posts with the word ‘peanuts’ on Rob’s site, enter
peanuts site:gutrumbles.com into the Google search box.

I’ve written about my own favorite Gut Rumbles post here. It’s not anything that he wrote himself, but gives a glimpse of who we all were to him.
Lisa W. at Lemons and Lollipops writes: “I couldn’t help but feel his pain, especially when he wrote about the year that changed his life and about missing his boy, nor could I help but feel the love he had for his mama, his pop, mommie, his brother, Sam, Quinton, and even Jack, the neighbor’s boy, when he wrote about them. There were so many, but I think my all time favourite story has to be about the Egg Salad Sandwiches. This was the story of how the parents’ relationship began of the friend I’d never met. It still makes me misty-eyed. The stories about his family were always my favourites.”
LL of Curses and Chrome reflects on the warmth of basking in Acidman’s special ‘glow’: “I had written a post about one of my son’s “moments” and later that day I realized I was getting an Acidbath. I checked it out. THIS is what I found…”. She also has posted the lyrics to a very special song.
The Other Steph, who doesn’t have a blog but really should get one, counts A Crap Tale as one of her favorite Acidman stories. This is the post that earned Rob the noble and distinctive title of “Crap Daddy”.
BabsRN at Living Single in the Buckle of the Bible Belt can’t choose just one, but points us to a post that reminds us of that Rob lived and blogged with very few regrets. [-Editor’s Note: If anyone has a copy of that tv interview he spoke of in that post, please contact me.]
Adam at My Side of the Couch reminds us how Rob could make an interesting post out of the most mundane, every day activities and always found time to interact with his readers one-on-one.
Dawn at Overactive Imagination points us to a poignant post from an early Acidman Mars.
What Now, Murphy? finds “fitting words for a man who stirred so much controversy, with so much glee.”
Adam at Quit That chooses three of his favorite Gut Rumbles posts and also has some great pictures of Rob.
Laurence Simon will be doing his next Full of Crap Report on Acidman. It will be released on Monday, so mark your calendars!
Longtime reader Gut Rumbles reader, Cindi, has finally been inspired to create her own blog. Let’s give her an Acidbath and read her favorite Gut Rumbles posts!
Leslie tells us about all the things Rob taught her. There’s lessons here for all of us.
That wild and crazy KeesKennis has created a special tribute to Rob that will make you laugh, cry and laugh until you cry.
Catfish’s son, Ryan, of Hearty Soup shares some wonderful memories of his dad’s poker nights.
Stephanie, known to Gut Rumbles fans as frequent commenter The_Other_Steph, has been inspired to start her own blog. She kicks off with an Ode to the Acidman.
Walrilla couldn’t choose just one post either. Who knew Acidman was like Lay’s Potato Chips?
Libby, from Last One Speaks, takes a stroll through the archives in an attempt to figure out what hooked her in the beginning.
