The Empress has new clothes. Not sure if I like the new look…but the new Wordpress didn’t play well with my template. One day when I have more time (yeah, right), I may fix it and put it back, but this is good for now.
I’ve also just enabled the hottest new blog toy to take the ’sphere by storm: coComment. Unfortunately I’ve encountered some trouble with it this morning, but I think it may have been on their end. If it causes any trouble, I’ll ditch it.
Website wonkiness may continue as I twist and tweak things around today.

Non-wordpress users feel free to ignore this post.
So far, I’m fairly unimpressed with the new Wordpress 2.1.X. The ability to create different categories of links for your blogroll has been all mucked up. And I’m REALLY annoyed with the new Blogroll category handling because it lists my categorized links as categories.
A quick look through the support forums at Wordpress.org tells me two things: 1) I’m not the only one and 2) I’ll need to carve out plenty of time to sift through for a solution.
And, is it just me or do the Wordpress forums seem to be a lot less helpful lately? I’m seeing a lot of sarcasm and outright meanness from longtime posters there when newbies ask questions. Maybe I just didn’t notice it in the early days but I sure did this morning.
Bah. Anyways, I’ll be re-categorizing some posts, rebuilding my blogroll and trying to import the last 6 months worth of posts that I found on Bloglines. THEN, I’ll be recoding my template. Excuse any strange behavior from the site over the next day or two.

It seems that Bitacle has made a slight change in the way they do things, due to the recent brouhaha. Instead of stealing an entire post, they’re just using excerpts. This is ‘better’, but the whole debacle has left a bad taste in my mouth. Slimy fuckers.
Having said that, if you use Wordpress for your blogging platform, I’d like to point you to a sweet little plug-in that will insert YOUR copyright information at the bottom of each post in your RSS feed. The plug-in is located here.

Further info and a fix can be found here. If you host your own site, I strongly suggest that you read and follow the instructions to prevent the Bitacle bot from spidering your site. If you use a free blog host, such as Blogger or Typepad, I strongly suggest you send off an email to the tech support department demanding they block the Bitacle spiders from their servers.
To the few people that I am hosting, we’re protected as of 20 mins ago.
UPDATE: Here is the WHOIS info I found for the domain. I’m thinking Mr. Glez is about to become a very unpopular person:

Since the chatroom that we set up for Acidman’s memorial service worked out so well, we’ve decided to keep it. If anyone would like to join us, here’s the info:
If you are familiar with chat and use an IRC client, such as mIRC, you can use any Freenode server to /join #gutrumbles .
If you are unfamiliar with IRC and prefer a web-based chat, Click here. Fill in your nickname and press Connect Now!
It’ll take a few seconds to load and then you’ll see the nickname list show up and you’ll be all set.

I spoke with Paul last night and finalized the plans for the online memorial at Gut Rumbles. I’ve got my virtual duct tape to (hopefully) prevent the server from falling apart. Bring your favorite memories, poems, drinks and munchies and join us in a celebration of Rob’s life beginning at 4pm EST. I expect this will last well into the evening, so if you can’t make it at 4PM, check in anyways.

Apparently my comment form is acting up again. I’ll work on it in a bit and see if I can’t pound it into submission
UPDATE: I think the Gravatar code is causing the issue so I’ve stripped it out til I can figure out the problem. Comments SEEM to work again…time will tell.

Anyone having trouble viewing my site besides Stevie? I’m aware that the comment window needs to be resized, but if anyone is having trouble viewing the main window, could you let me know and possibly send a screenshot? Thanks!
UPDATE: This is what you should be seeing.
